Why Sukkot - Festival of perfection?

Writes the Rambam (Laws of the sukkah, 8:12): "Despite the fact that during all the holidays there is a commandment to rejoice in the feast of Sukkot in the Temple was a special joy." The fact that Sukkot is linked in a special way with joy, and we can see from the text of the prayer, which Sukkot is called "the time of our joy."

Financial excellence

The Torah says about the holiday of Sukkot: "And on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when gather the harvest of the earth, a feast to the Lord seven days." Sukkot - is the meeting of harvest, over which a person worked for a long time, thus achieving material perfection. For this reason ought the joy these days and therefore immediately after the above verse the Torah says: "And you shall rejoice before the Lord your Gd seven days."

Spiritual perfection

There are three holiday, in which the Torah commands Jews to ascend the Temple. In the Torah, they are mentioned in the following order: Passover, Shavuot, Sukkot. These holidays - this is the order of the spiritual work of man. From what Sukkot is referred to the last, we can learn that in him we reach a certain spiritual perfection.

The fact that a person leaves his permanent home and "moving" in time, giving him the opportunity to forget all his problems in life (our sages said: "The one who increases his possessions, increases their anxiety), and to strengthen a faith and trust in Holy One, blessed be He. This man finds peace of mind and spiritual perfection. All this leads one to the special feeling of joy in the days of Sukkot.
