Good afternoon friends!

Summary of the chapter "Vaethanan"

Deuteronomy 3:23-7:11

Moses tells the people of Israel how he begged G-d to let him enter the Holy Land, but G-d refused him, telling him instead to go up the mountain and look at the Land of Israel.

Continuing the "repetition of the Torah", Moshe speaks of the exodus from Egypt and the Giving of the Torah, designating them as unprecedented events in human history: "Has anything like this great thing ever happened, or has anything like it been heard? Has the people heard the voice of B "He who speaks from the midst of the fire, ... and remained alive? It was revealed to you that you might know that the Lord is G-d, there is no other besides Him!"

Moshe predicts that in future generations the people will turn away from G-d, will serve idols and will be expelled from their land and scattered among other nations. But there they will seek God and return to keeping His commandments.

This chapter also includes a recapitulation of the Ten Commandments and a fragment "Hear, O Israel!" proclaiming the fundamental foundations of the Jewish faith: the principle of the oneness of God ("Hear, Israel: the Lord is our God, the Lord is one!"), the commandment to love the Creator, the command to study His Torah, and also to tie "these words" in the form of tefillin on the hand and on the head and inscribe them in mezuzahs fixed on the doorposts.
